The heart of Italy by car – 8D/7N from 840 €uro

DAY 1: Rome/Orvieto/Civita di Bagnoregio/Perugia
In the morning pick up the rental car at Rome airport or at Rome Rail Station, then departure for Orvieto. You can visit the town with the Gothic Cathedral and the St Patrick’s Well.
Then you continue to Civita di Bagnoregio, the ‘dying city’, suspended in time and space: perched on the top of a hill and reachable only through a narrow pedestrian bridge. In the afternoon you continue to Perugia, where you can visit the Perugina chocolate factory with chocolate tasting. At the end of the day you arrive at the hotel. DAY 2: Perugia/Assisi/Todi/Perugia
In the morning you can visit Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. A nice walk in the old town that will end with a visit of the Basilica of St. Francis. Then, you continue for Todi. Visit the historic centre of this pretty, walled village protected by the fortress of 1373; you can see the Cathedral, the Piazza del Popolo, the Palazzo dei Priori and the Church of Consolation, built by Bramante.
Return to Perugia. Visit the old town. You can admire the Palazzo dei Priori, the Fontana Maggiore, the Etruscan Gate of the 3rd century BC, the Cathedral and the medieval wall. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 3: Perugia/Montalcino/San Gimignano/Florence
After breakfast you depart from Perugia to Montalcino where you will visit a winery that produces the famous Brunello di Montalcino, one of the best red wines in the world. Then you continue to San Gimignano with is historical old centre, UNESCO-listed.
In the afternoon you continue to Florence, one of the most culturally rich and beautiful cities in Italy. The Medicis, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello all lived in Florence. It is possible to participate in a guided walking tour that includes the symbols of the city or a guided tour of one of the main museums: the Uffizi Galleries or the Academia Gallery and in the evening you can eat the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina, the Florentine Beef Steak. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 4: Florence/Bologna
Full day dedicated to Florence with its museums and monuments. In the afternoon, at the end of the visit to Florence, you leave for Bologna. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 5: Bologna/Modena/Parma
Today you explore the region of Emilia-Romagna and its most important towns. This region is known as the “Italian Food Valley”. Discover the outstanding produce and cuisine of Emilia- Romagna and learn the secrets of how Parma ham, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar are made. You can visit Fico Eataly World, a thematic park entirely dedicated to the agri-food sector and gastronomy. You can stop in Modena, where you can visit a vinegar factory. Do not miss Piazza Grande, the heart of the town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Motor enthusiasts can also make a detour to the nearby Ferrari Museum in Maranello.
Then depart for Parma, the heart of the Italian ‘Food Valley’, home of raw ham and Parmigiano Reggiano. Here, in addition to visiting the city, a food tour to taste the exquisite local products is strongly recommended. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 6: Parma/Cinque Terre/Pisa/Siena
In the morning you continue to La Spezia, a city on the sea and a base for exploring the Cinque Terre. Pisa’s UNESCO-listed Square of Miracles is your next stop today where you will have the opportunity to view the Leaning Tower. Then you continue to Siena. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 7: Siena/Rome
In the morning you can visit Siena and its historic center. The city is famous for the Palio, a horse race in medieval dress.Your journey continues to Rome. At the end of the day, drop-off the rental car at Roma Fiumicino Airport or Roma Termini Rail Station. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 8: Depart Rome
Your adventures come to end today. As there is so much to see in Rome, we recommend you stay a little longer. We are happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). Meals included: Breakfast.
