DAY 1: Benevento
Upon airport arrival or at the finish of your tour, we shall be waiting to transport you to Sannio, the ancient name of the province of Benevento. The “Samnites” were famous for an incredible victory against the ancient Romans! This morning we visit a winery of the Taburno with the opportunity to taste the famous Falanghina, one of the best white wines in the world. Lunch in a holiday farm of the area. In the afternoon we continue to Benevento and explore the historic city on a guided walking tour. We visit the Arch of Trajan, the Church of Santa Sofia and the Museum of Sannio. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 2: Cusano Mutri/Cerreto Sannita/Sant’Agata de’ Goti/Benevento
Today we visit Cusano Mutri and Pietraroja, retracing the steps of “Ciro”, the baby dinosaur, unearthed in this locality. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon we visit Cerreto Sannita, home of the ancient school of ceramists. Visit to the Museum of Ceramics. Then we proceed on to Sant’Agata de’ Goti to visit this splendid medieval village. We return to Benevento where we have a dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 3: Benevento/Pietrelcina/Depart
This morning we continue to Pietrelcina to visit the historical center of Pietrelcina, the birthplace of St. Pio (Padre Pio), including all the sacred places associated with the life of the Capuchin Monk and the house where the beloved St. Pio was born. Your adventures come to end today. There are no other activities planned. As there is so much to see, we recommend you stay a little longer. We are happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). Meals included: Breakfast.
