DAY 1: Palermo/Cefalù
Welcome to Sicily! Upon airport arrival, we shall be waiting to transport you to your hotel in Cefalù, a beautiful medieval maritime village with its Norman Cathedral. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm. Spend your afternoon relaxing after your journey or explore the city before joining your Travel Director. Dinner with your fellow travel companions at a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Dinner.
DAY 2: Cefalù/Taormina
After breakfast we continue to Taormina to visit the city center. Discover the main attractions of the town, its soul and lifestyle, the best places for traditional pastries, ice cream, coffee, for food and handicraft shopping and anything else that might be interesting for you. Pass the most important monuments and highlights of Taormina listening the stories of your guide. Have three foodie stops, first in typical trattoria for fish tasting and white wines. Second stop in Sicilian bottega for cheeses, salumi, bread, olives and red wines tasting. And last stop in small pastry bar for tasting of typical sicilian sweets and liquors. In the afternoon we continue to Catania. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.
DAY 3: Etna/Acireale/Catania
In the morning we have an excursion to Europe’s largest and most active volcano, Mount Etna, rising to a height of 1800 MT. Possibility also to make the ascent to the main crater with authorized guide, (direct payment 65 €). Then we continue to Acireale to visit its baroque city center. Have a fish lunch overlooking the sea in Acitrezza. In the afternoon have a walk in the historic center of Catania with its famous “Bellini” theater and the scenic Piazza del Duomo with its stunning Cathedral and the lava stone Elephant (symbol of the city). Enjoy a stop in a coffee bar to taste the local granita with brioche. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.
DAY 4: Catania/Siracusa/Noto/Ragusa
After Breakfast we depart to Siracusa. We visit this magnificent city rich in testimonies of its ancient Greco-Roman past like the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheater, the Latomy and the Ear of Dionysus and the historic center (Ortigia) with the Temple of Minerva and the Fountain of Arethusa. Entering directly Ortigia food market, You will experience the market stalls with your guide, admiring artistically arranged stands of vegetables, nuts, fruits, cheeses, meats and fresh fishes while soaking up the market’s friendly and warm ambiance. Enjoy a typical samples of Siracusa Sea & land food in a typical food boutique. In the afternoon we continue to Noto, the capital of “Barocco” also called the “stone garden”, full of beautiful buildings and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A walk through the streets of the center to admire the skill and ingenious creativity of local craftsmen.
We continue to Ragusa. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Light lunch in open air boutique.
DAY 5: Ragusa/Piazza Armerina/Agrigento
Our first stop today is to visit the Ragusa Ibla district with its beautiful churches and the Ibleo garden. Then proceed to Piazza Armerina and visit the splendid Villa Romana del Casale, a building from the late imperial period and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch in typical trattoria of Agrigento, next to Temples Valley. In the afternoon we visit the famous Temples Valley, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the Giunone, Concordia and Ercole temples can be admired. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.
DAY 6: Agrigento/Selinunte/Erice/Palermo
Today we explore Selinunte fand and its archaeological zone. After that we go to Erice for a lunch in a typical restaurant. Then we visit this fascinating and small medieval town located 750 m. high where you can see the panorama that goes from Trapani to Capo San Vito. In the afternoon we continue to Palermo. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.
DAY 7: Palermo/Monreale/Palermo
On this day sample the best of Sicilian streetfood during a 3 hours Walking tour of Palermo. Meet the Local Guide at 10.30 in front of Massimo Theatre. This food tour explores the fascinating culinary world of Sicily’s capital and includes visit of the famous and bustling Vucciria and Mercato del Capo outdoor markets, tasting five different Sicilian treats along the way — including ‘panelle’ (chickpea fritters) and ‘arancine’ (deep-fried rice balls). Be ready to discover authentic Palermitan poor area. In the afternoon we visit Monreale, with its impressive Arab-Norman Cathedral and stunning Cloister. Return to Palermo that preserves monuments of the Arab-Norman period, including the beautiful Cathedral, the fascinating Byzantine Church of the Martorana and the Palatine Chapel, the higher example from the historical-artistic point of view of the coexistence between cultures and religions. Possibility to see Puppet Theater (direct payment 20 €). Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals included: Breakfast, Palermo streetfood walking tour (Light lunch).
DAY 8: Depart Palermo
Your adventures come to an end today. There are no activities planned and you’re free to depart the accommodation at any time after check-out. As there is so much to see in Sicily, we recommend you stay a little longer. We are happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). Meals included: Breakfast.
